Cupcake Nails

As I said I would a while ago, I've tried out cupcake nails and they look great!
I used Collection 2000 Hot Looks in their pastel shades of pink, yellow, blue and green, and a manicure white. This design took a long time as I had to wait for it to dry between each layer, and after a few layers it takes longer and longer to dry until it seems like it never will! Then I go to bed (being careful not to mess them up) and in the morning they are rock hard :)

I added a pink gem over the cherry dot to give it some sparkle and a dotting tool to make the sprinkles. You can change up the colours to make chocolate cupcakes or any colour you want. The shape of your nails is pretty much the shape of a cupcake anyway, but you could always do it the other way around so that it looks upside down to you but it'll be the right way up to people admiring your cute but sadly inedible nails :)

Mario Mushroom Nails

These nails are for my boyfriend who loves the Mario games, they're really simple and cute :)

I used Collection 2000 Hot Looks 'Ninja' and a white from their Manicure range. It's really easy to do, I did the green and white freehand and used a big dotting tool for the spots and a smaller one for the eyes.
You could do this in red too to be the Super Mushroom :) I got the idea from this talented girl's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3FgpqzBf8I

Next up...CUPCAKE NAILS!

Rose Nails

I saw a video for this look on youtube and wanted to try it out:
For a first attempt it's not bad, I think doing the petal lines will need more practice, and I messed it up a bit when I put a clear top coat on as it made the red run slightly :/ I used my thin brush nail varnishes for the petals and leaves and the green is Mint Mojo by Collection 2000. I'm not sure if my choice of colours work well so I'll try it again another time :)

Aztec Nail Varnish

Here's a better picture of the Aztec nails, you can see the green shine much better :)

Aztec French Tips

I bought 'Aztec' from the Accessorize varnish collection, I had doubts about it but when I tried it on I really liked it. When you move your fingers around it looks green with purple glitter and slightly gold. I jazzed it up with dots from a purple Barry M varnish. I tried painting it all over the nail but it was a bit overwhelming so I just stuck to the tips:

My phone camera doesn't do it justice, I'll try and upload a picture of it in a better light using my proper camera. It was £4 in Superdrug but you can get it in the Accessorize store. I wanna try out some more ideas using this varnish, and this makes me wanna do more french tip styles in general (now that my nails don't have a yellowish tinge to them from over-painting them it's a nice change to show their natural colour :P )

More Sparkles (I'm starting to get an obsession...)

I bought another glitter nail varnish, so here is what my nails are wearing at the moment:
This beauty is Red Glitter (boring name, huh?) by Barry M. It reminds me of Dorothy's red slippers and would have been good for Xmas :) It's hard to tell but I think it's just red glitter, no actual red varnish in it. It only needed two coats and a clear top coat to make it more smooth, and it's sooo preeettty :D It was £2.99 so worth the money methinks!

I had a thought for my next nail-do...Converse Nails! I've seen videos of this on youtube and I have special nail varnish brushes and a dotting tool so it should be easyish :)

My First Post :D

I've been inspired by a friend to create a blog to show my nail art, along with occasional new purchases and reviews :)

My latest purchase was 'Material Girl' from the China Glaze Eye Candy 3D Glitter range:

I'd seen pictures of Teenage Dream by OPI from the Katy Perry collection but it was so hard to find at a decent price I ended up searching for something similar and on a more affordable budget. I bought this from Beauty Inside on Amazon for £5.95 (the most I've ever paid for a nail varnish, but totally worth it) which included postage and packaging. It arrived very quickly, I ordered it on a Tuesday (during a break in my life drawing class at college :P) and it arrived the following Friday in lots of packaging. I was ill that day so it really cheered me up to see it had arrived :)

From what I can tell it's a LOT of pale pink glitter in a clear base. The glitter is tiny round bits and large and small hexagonal bits, and I LOVE it! Here it is with two thickish coats and clear on top:

Apologies if the quality isn't top notch, I use my mobile :P I really like this varnish, it's really girly and glittery and the bottle is huge compared to some of my other nail varnishes. The only teensy downside to me is that it's not smooth on your nails, but what did I expect what with the amount of glitter that's in it! I made it a bit smoother by putting several layers of clear over the top so it doesn't catch on materials and stuff. Now I worry how I'll get it off, might have to try the felt method seeing as the foil one doesn't seem to work very well :)
